An estimated

300 pangolins are killed every day

3x more than Elephants . . .

Pangolins are poached by the millions in both Africa and Asia pushing the species closer and closer to extinction. Pangolins alone account for approximately 20% of all illegal wildlife trade globally. No other animal has ever been poached to this extent.

Pangolin scales

The scales of a pangolin are in equal demand to their "delectable" meat. Their large keratinous scales are used in traditional African medicine where the scales are dried, roasted, and mixed with various oils and spices. Fresh scales are also used in high end clothing items and accessories.
